“Last weekend, Denver hosted the first Plant Medicine Expo & Healthcare Provider Conference, an upscale (for a change) educational event. I moderated a panel discussion with local and state politicians, including Denver City Councilman Charlie Brown and Colorado Springs Councilman Tom Gallagher. In the audience were people with chronic diseases, people undergoing cancer treatment, people in pain, with MS, anxiety and depression, with migraines or spinal cord injuries, and people who just wanted to learn more. It was not a stoner-fest. There were thoughtful questions, and responsible answers.

Medical marijuana is here to stay. People want its benefits, and politicians and business people want its revenue...

...I am a cancer survivor, and used medical marijuana when I was in treatment. I applaud the efforts to make it acceptable to everyone. It will happen; humanity will find a way.”

-Richard Belzer, star of Law & Order SVU, comedian and cancer survivor in the Denver Post on October 8th, 2010.

“We’re not putting a festival together. Clearly, we’ve brought the adults to the table here ... That’s what it’s going to take to get the woman with stage II breast cancer to walk through the doors of a dispensary and say, ‘Will this help me?’”

The [current] system alienates potential customers, such as senior citizens or baby boomers who won’t ask their doctors about medical marijuana because of the drug’s reputation, and it scares away good doctors who won’t prescribe it for the same reason, Ginsberg said.  “…events such as this conference can help cannabis find mainstream acceptance...”

"It was really exciting to see people come together to talk about this medicine -- and the more we get together to talk about it, the more we realize how much there is to learn, and how many benefits the plant has. I'd never seen anything like it in Colorado before.

Held in Denver this past September, Plant Medicine Expo & Healthcare Provider Conference (PMEHPC) was the first substantive and professional conference and expo that spoke to the legitimate uses of medical marijuana (MMJ). Unlike its predecessors, PMEHPC opened the door to a meaningful and insightful conversation regarding the medical uses MMJ, the industry that has emerged since its legalization in multiple states, and the legal and emotional issues that still spark debate over this natural substance.

PMEHPC Denver featured two days of consumer conferences, a business expo, as well as a conference geared towards the healthcare provider community. These events brought together the best minds in the MMJ community—from scientists and lawyers to doctors and business owners—all focused on collaborating together and sharing information with the patient/caregiver and healthcare provider communities. About Plant Medicine Expo & Healthcare Provider Conference

TGI Healthworks is a national leader in the formation and production of medical and pharmaceutical conferences and has developed Plant Medicine Expo & Healthcare Provider Conference (PMEHPC). PMEHPC is a truly educational conference designed to provide physicians, health care providers and individuals suffering from chronic medical conditions with comprehensive, objective information about medical marijuana.

Unlike the myriad of medical marijuana conferences that cater primarily to long time advocates of medical and recreational marijuana, the PMEHPC targets the uninitiated, under-informed and reticent potential patients and physicians who may be aware of medical marijuana as a potential treatment option, but who otherwise lack the understanding needed to make an educated determination on its appropriateness for their condition. The conference, which is composed of three separate parts (a healthcare provider conference; consumer conference; and exhibitor expo), offers a professional forum in which to learn about and discuss the range of issues attendant to the medical marijuana health care industry.

PMEHPC is a truly educational conference designed to provide individuals suffering from chronic medical conditions with comprehensive, objective information about medical marijuana. PMEHPC also provides insights and information to providers of medical marijuana and traditional healthcare providers who are curious about the medical marijuana option and process.

PMEHPC Denver was the first of several by TGI Healthworks that are being organized in states where medical marijuana is legal.

Medical marijuana may be legal in 14 states, but medical marijuana education is mandatory for anyone considering it to help control symptoms of their chronic disease.
